Synopsis

Teddy Tucker has made a mess of his life and he’s got nothing to say for himself. He’s also broke so he spends most of his time seeking solace in a café with fast internet and cheap coffee. It helps that Sheba, a Jewish ex-pat and mother figure, serves marshmallows with everything. One day, he dishes out a chance bit of advice to a stranger who is struggling to write a best man’s speech. Before he can say no, Teddy finds himself presented with the chance to write the speech and earn some cash. He accepts.

Sheba likes to dish out her pearls of worldly wisdom. And Teddy finds comfort in her. Paul, his best mate, also loves to hang out and spout off about his swinging bisexuality. So, these three unlikely friends set off to work out what the hell love is and whether any of them will ever find it. All Teddy has to do is be the scribe. He's all set for success when his ex Eva arrives to confront him. She demands to know how he could jilt her at the altar without an explanation. Let alone without a visa or at least a donation to her deportation ticket to the USA. Teddy is speechless.

Teddy knows he’s done wrong but doesn’t know how to make it right. Assurance comes from knowing there’s a pay cheque at the end of writing. Speechless sees him enter a new wedding every episode in a joy ride into nuptial euphoria. Searching in every wedding for the right words to narrate the couple up to their first dance. Without knowing it he is writing his way back to the love of his life. And finding that love speaks for itself while you're looking for the words.
