Pictures in puddles

My illustrative style was inspired by the mess of lockdown. I found myself throwing paint around (having started with cakes), and while I was frustrated by the outcome, I loved the mess. These abstract peacock feathers looked almost perfectly formed as spills from a painting I didn't like (see the image on your left). This digital piece was created entirely from those spills and mimics a paper cut-out style. I like that these are creatures of the natural world emerging from acrylic paint. Despite my efforts, the peacock insists on being. And it is so proud, flamboyant, and showy, all aspects of my artistic expression that I find difficult to embody.
